Issue No. 1 | March 2026

Dear Friend,

Spring has arrived — and with it, the return of birdsong, blooming flowers, and the quiet joy of watching the world come back to life. There is something about this time of year that feels like a fresh start, a gentle reminder that renewal is always possible.

Here in Wisconsin, spring brings familiar visitors — robins hopping across the lawn, red-winged blackbirds calling from the cattails, geese returning in formation overhead. Each one a small announcement that winter is behind us.

One bird, however, always feels like a special surprise — the hummingbird. So small you might miss it, yet so vivid you never forget it. Hovering in place, wings invisible with speed, it seems almost impossible — a tiny miracle in motion. They do visit Wisconsin, yet many of us go years without spotting one.

Inside this envelope you will find:

  • Hummingbird Seed Paper — plant this little bird in a small pot with soil, water, and sunlight and it will bloom into wildflowers for you to enjoy this season.

  • A Rebus Puzzle — a little something to keep the gears turning.

A Question for You

Have you ever seen a hummingbird? Perhaps one stopped at a feeder on your porch, or surprised you in a garden. Where were you and what do you remember about that moment?

Write your thoughts and hand them in to the front desk by Friday — we will pick them up at the end of the week.

With your permission, I may share your story in the next PorchLight letter, brought to you by EverPath — anonymously or with your name, your choice.

If you enjoyed this letter and would like to stay on the list for future mailings, please let us know.

With warmth and respect,

Mae White
